River – violin, viola and guitar teacher

River is a creative and engaging music teacher.  His unique approaches of teaching the fundamentals of music to a whole range of ages, allows students to explore their own style of playing and develop their own character and interpretation of the music. He is a flexible teacher who not only teaches the practicalities of music making, but also focuses on general musicianship and the well-being of each student. He also is a believer of experiencing music outside of the lesson and promotes strategies of practicing music regularly and attending a wide range of concerts and performances to allow the student to experience the wonderful world of music making and inspire them in becoming future musicians.

River currently studies Mathematics with Music at the University of Surrey. He has been studying Violin for thirteen years and has experience in teaching Violin through ABRSM and Music Medals. He has performed in the Halle Youth Orchestra, Amadeus Orchestra and has lead the Greater Manchester Youth String Orchestra on numerous occasions. He has performed in prestigious venues such as Bridgewater Hall and Manchester Cathedral and has achieved DipABRSM in music education and Violin teaching. River also volunteered within his local music community, stewarding ABRSM exams and helping in children ensembles, assisting them with tricky musical passages whilst emitting a fun musical environment to perform in.

In addition, River also teaches Acoustic Guitar and Viola at beginner level. Students who have been taught by River have achieved a Merit or Distinction in their ABRSM exams.
