Freya – Piano teacher

Freya is a classically trained pianist with an ARSM Diploma (Distinction). She is a caring, enthusiastic teacher, who is committed to giving her pupils a solid, technical grounding while they have fun together and discover the incredible things a piano can do.  Freya works at a pace which is comfortable for the learner, but is ambitious for her pupils if they want her to be.  She plans her lessons to include developing pieces for performance, exercises to build technique, work on rhythm and notation, and the consolidation of earlier work in order to boost confidence.  The Prep Test, offered by ABRSM, is an excellent option for younger pupils who would like to take graded exams when they are ready.

Alongside teaching and studying, Freya is a volunteer with an inclusive orchestra in Brighton for young musicians and their parents.  She is also a regular performer, both on piano and violin, as a soloist and ensemble player.  She leads the award-winning Brighton Youth String Ensemble and is a member of the acclaimed Brighton Youth Orchestra, touring with them most recently to Tuscany and Poland. Freya has also performed at Glyndebourne Opera House and the Brighton Festival.
