Emily is a friendly and encouraging tutor with previous experience teaching young beginner violinists. Her main aim is to encourage her pupils to enjoy both playing the violin and the music itself. Having achieved her ABRSM Grade 8 theory, a focus on both technical ability and an understanding of the violin helps to complement the more ‘musical’ side of the lessons. Cultivating a positive environment helps her to achieve the best outcome for each individual student, as having been taught by several different teachers herself she understands the importance of a tailored approach. She is experienced in solo, chamber and orchestral performance, and has participated in many music festivals and orchestral courses. She is currently studying for her BA in music at the University of Oxford, and is being taught the violin privately by Paul Barritt.
