Instrumental lessons listed below are all available for adults from beginners to advanced standard. Every tutor has a wealth of relevant experience and can teach you in your own home if you would prefer. The first lesson is free and without obligation to book giving you a chance to meet the tutor and have a chat about the teaching styles available. Lessons last for an hour and are available between 9am and 8pm Monday to Saturday. Lessons can be paid for one at a time and shared with another pupil if you are keen to work alongside another student. ABRSM exams are optional. A starter pack containing manuscript paper, a relevant music book, progress diary and worksheets is provided free of charge when you start your lessons.

Piano - Classical, Jazz, Contemporary.

Piano lessons can incorporate any of the above styles depending on a pupil's personal choice and ability. Tutors are always happy to teach by personal preference, having as little or as much input into the pieces learned as a pupil requires. It is perfectly acceptable to arrive ‘requested repertoire in hand' or to rely entirely on the guidance of the teacher. ABRSM exams are available but not essential to progression. Techniques such as jazz improvisation and composition can also be covered on request.

Voice Coaching / Performance

Taught by an experienced singer and actor, these sessions instill self-confidence and boost self-esteem. Focusing on ‘Stage' performance, pupils are taught the skills essential to a convincing vocal display. The course focuses mainly on Jazz and Contemporary styles.

Music Theory / Composition.

Taught alongside many of the other service options, Theory and Composition are essential to progression with any instrument. Using computer software (Sibelius 5), ABRSM materials and CD roms, pupils are taught how music ‘works' and how to compose their own.

Music Technology.

Music production on Apple Mac using GarageBand and Logic Pro (music production based software packages used in schools and recording studios) and Sibelius. Recording real instruments, building arrangements in various styles and sharing finished songs.

Cello / Violin

Individual and small group training is available, with emphasis placed on a classical repertoire. There is the option of a group session that meets with the teacher every month to rehearse and investigate quartets and various ensembles.

Guitar (Electric, Acoustic, Classical).

Guitar is taught 1 on 1 or in small groups, and can incorporate various styles and genres depending on the pupils preference. There is the option of Voice Coaching running alongside these lessons as the tutors also teach vocals, and finished songs are often recorded.

Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute, Trumpet.

Woodwind and Brass instruments are taught in either a Classical, Jazz or Contemporary style, or a combination of the three. Individual or group training is available with the option of ABRSM Music exams and Music Medals (small group / ensemble assessment). All tutors are experienced performers with a strong knowledge of the instrument they teach, a number are also trained pianists which gives students the option to cover a range of both solo and accompanied repertoire.
